Rhinoplasty: What It Is and Why It's Done
A rhinoplasty can fix a bump on the nasal bridge, shallow depressions on the bridge and a large, upturned or drooping nasal tip. A plastic surgeon is certified and trained to do a rhinoplasty.
The smallest correction can produce big results—you can end up breathing better. A rhinoplasty can also improve the aesthetics of your nose.

Structural abnormality—a person may be born with it, or he/she experienced an injury or faulty nose job.
Heredity determines the shape of your nose, but injury and prior surgery can alter the appearance and structure of the nose, maybe further complicating it. A plastic surgeon can treat the nose’s internal structure (see list below) that may be causing problems:
- Deviated septum
- Weak nostrils
- Twisted nose
- Narrow nasal passageways
