Patient:  What is so special about a fractional laser?

Doc:

Many different lasers are advertised today making it hard to differentiate which might be the best for you.  In general, lasers are grouped into ablative and non-ablative technologies. Each laser has specific qualities that helps treat certain conditions. Fractional lasers are ablative lasers designed to minimize down time by leaving normal skin between the treated pinpoint areas. The healthy skin around the treated areas helps speed recovery and lowers the risk of the procedure.

Our office uses the latest technology, Pearl™ Fractional, which delivers a wavelength designed to ablate water found within skin cells resulting in new collagen and elastic fiber formation. It is ideal for:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles commonly found around the eyes and mouth.
  • Pigmentation changes that can occur with aging especially on the cheeks and forehead
  • Actinic Keratosis (AKs)- a common pre-cancerous skin condition
  • Scars, either from trauma or acne
